Learning and Development Advisor

Location: Westerleigh Group Head office, Bristol

Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum

Hours: Full time

Westerleigh Group are the leading independent developer and operator of Crematoria and Cemeteries in the UK. We pride ourselves on providing excellent facilities and exceptional levels of customer service.

We are a rapidly expanding Company, having built or acquired three new crematoria in the last two years, with further plans for development in 2015

The Position

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Learning and Development Advisor who can offer creative flair, operational excellence and commercial acumen.

Working in partnership with the HR team, you will deliver & design engaging and commercially driven behavioural & technical development interventions to all areas of The Westerleigh Group. You will have responsibility for the planning & organisation of training activity ensuring that it develops skills, improves productivity, enhances quality of work and supports loyalty, morale and motivation. You will work to evolve the 'development culture’ at The Westerleigh Group ensuring that the route to any training/development opportunity is visible and accessible.

This is a key role working across all levels of the business - therefore, the ability to foster strong working relationships and engage employees is essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a desire for continued personal development with the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with a confident manner and a can do attitude.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate training modules, events and external courses across all channels
  • Responsible for booking and/or overseeing the booking of training related travel and accommodation
  • Maintain training records and attendance records
  • Support the collection and analysis of feedback and evaluations
  • Track monthly training costs to ensure they are kept within budget
  • Support the production, edits and send out of all training related materials
  • Produce updates for in-house communication and intranet
  • Deliver in-house training across sites nationally
  • The development of both face-to-face and e-learning solutions to promote talent development

Required experience and skills

  • CIPD in Learning and Development level 3 or above essential
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication skills
  • High level of IT skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone when needed
  • Able to plan & prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent at problem solving and decision making
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing a wide range of learning and development delivery methods.
  • Demonstrate ability to prepare and present high quality reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and challenge existing practices.
  • Demonstrate effective project management skills in a working environment commensurate with a senior regional role
  • Full driving licence and have use of own vehicle for work purposes

Grounds Worker

Location: Basildon

Salary: To be discussed

Hours: Part time (18 hours per week)

Our Company vision is to ensure every funeral service is regarded as a major event and receives the same priority as if it was for a member of one’s own family or a civic or national dignitary.

We specialise in providing well maintained, clean and comforting environments for mourners, clergy, funeral directors and staff, both within and outside the building. This includes landscaping the grounds to ensure that a natural and beautiful setting is provided throughout the year.

The Position

We are looking for a hands on, highly motivated individual with excellent customer service skills to join our dedicated team.

Duties to include: Maintaining the memorial gardens, operation of the cremators and occasionally overseeing services in the chapel.

The successful applicant will be a flexible, well-motivated, self-starter who possesses excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing the highest level of service to the bereaved.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of grounds maintenance.
  • Have experience of operating machinery.
  • A good standard of education including a sound knowledge of Mathematics and English.
  • A caring and sympathetic nature to deal with the bereaved at a sensitive time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive, compassionate and confidential manner with the public, funeral directors and clergy, in person or on the telephone.
  • A flexible and approachable attitude to the needs of the public.
  • A flexible approach to team working hours.
  • An ability to work within a team to ensure that high standards of care are achieved.
