Llanelli Crematorium Joins Westerleigh

The acquisition follows discussions with Marj Jopling, founder and owner of Llanelli, who chose Westerleigh because of their shared ethos to provide a flexible and personal service to the bereaved. Richard Evans, Managing Director of Westerleigh, was similarly pleased with the outcome: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to carry on the highly impressive service that Marj has established and we look forward to providing the same personal level of care that has characterised the crematorium over the past 12 years.”

Llanelli crematorium opened in 2002 and looks after over 1200 funerals each year from across Carmarthenshire and the western side of Swansea. Congregations are larger than elsewhere in the UK and this is recognised by a larger chapel with space for local choirs who regularly attend, in line with welsh tradition. The sale will also see the promotion of Kevin Davies to Manager who has worked at the crematorium since it opened and has been dedicated the service ever since, a key factor in Westerleigh’s decision to add Llanelli their group.

“We are blessed to have inherited such a strong and able team led by Kevin who will ensure a seamless transfer, preserving a service tailored to local tradition and tastes, in the same way that we operate at our other sites” added Mr Evans.
