Charity receives grand donation from Mercia Forest Crematorium
A Wolverhampton-based charity which provides specialist palliative and bereavement support has received a grand donation from Mercia Forest Crematorium.
Compton Care has been presented with a £1,000 cheque towards its provision of high-quality, accessible care and support for local people who have life-limiting conditions.
The donation was made from the proceeds of the crematorium’s metal recycling fund.
With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled, and any money raised is used to support selected charities, clubs, organisations, local activities and environmental initiatives which benefit the communities that the crematorium serves
Mercia Forest Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.
All Westerleigh's locations are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefitting from exceptional care and support from its teams.
Manager Graham Hall said: “I approached one of my local funeral directors to see if there was a way we could jointly support a local charity, and we chose Compton Care because of all the great work they do.
“The daughter of a member of staff here at the crematorium once worked for Compton Care, and her experiences there helped influence our decision.
“The charity has been helping patients and their families navigate every aspect of coping with a life-limiting condition for more than 40 years and has made a positive difference to many local families in that time.
“We’re proud to be able to support an organisation which does so much to provide support and make a positive difference at the hardest of times.”
Rachel Hailey, from Compton Care, said: “On behalf of everyone here, I would like to thank Mercia Forest Crematorium for their generous donation.
“Their support helps us to continue providing vital, expert care and support to local people living with life-limiting conditions, and to their families.
“We are truly grateful for this contribution and for the difference it will help us make every day.”
