The Position

We are looking for a hands on, highly motivated Grounds Supervisor capable of delivering outstanding standards to join our dedicated team.

You will be the key link between the operational management and the grounds maintenance and grave digging provision of Forest Park Crematorium and its’ associated cemeteries, ensuring the highest standards of care, communication and service are provided at all times.

This is a varied role and will involve many aspects of grounds maintenance, including :

  • Understanding the day to day requirements, attendance and output of the grounds and digging team.
  • Supervising the marking and digging of all graves to ensure suitable size;
  • Managing the grave selection process to ensure the appropriate steps are taken when preparing graves for burial and supervising the dressing of the graves;
  • Assessing that the concession agreement is adhered to in respect of grounds work: lawn cutting, clearing of leaves, seasonal planting, maintaining shrubbery, maintaining the memorial gardens and general site maintenance.
  • Improving the overall appearance of the site and becoming a welcoming beacon to those who have lost a loved one;
  • Prioritising a heavy workload daily
  • Being a leader by example and demonstrating the values intrinsic to the role.
  • Managing the grounds team on the Vison, Values and Behaviours in order that standards are consistent

As such we are seeking a highly flexible, well-motivated individual who possesses excellent ground maintenance skills and a commitment to providing the highest level of service to the bereaved.

 

The Person

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A caring and sympathetic nature to deal with the bereaved at a sensitive time.
  • Experience of operating machinery and gardening.
  • An understanding of grave digging and general grounds managements
  • The ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive, compassionate and confidential manner.
  • The ability to effectively manage a team
  • A good standard of education including a sound knowledge of Mathematics and English.
  • An excellent attention to detail
  • A flexible and approachable attitude to the needs of the public.
  • An ability to work within a team to ensure that high standards of care are achieved.
  • A desire to learn and develop.
