CEMETERY & CREMATORIA DEVELOPMENT.

Learning & Development Assistant

Westerleigh Group Head Office

Salary: c. £25,000 per annum

Full time - 40 Hours per week

When friends and family say a final goodbye to a loved one at the crematorium, it can be one of the very hardest parts of a funeral. That’s why it’s so important to deliver a respectful, serene and empathetic experience. Which is exactly what our client, Westerleigh, ensures happens.

The 40,000 cremations and burials they deliver each year help to shape a truly fitting end to the funeral service. Westerleigh sees it as an honour and a privilege to be charged with that role and, as a result, it’s made them the largest independent operator of their kind in the UK, employing 300 people across 35 sites.

Joining us as Learning & Development Assistant here at Westerleigh is an opportunity to be a part of something truly meaningful and significant.

The challenge

Learning & Development never stops here at Westerleigh and we’re always looking at ways to improve and broaden skills within our organisation. It’s one of the main reasons we’re going from strength to strength. Right now, we’re in the midst of a major transformation project that will fully modernise our approach to staff training. As a Learning & Development Assistant, you will help make that transformation as smooth and as effective as possible. It’s all about removing any potential barriers between people and the skills they need – your input will be key to that.

You will help induct new starters into the company, being their first point of contact as you coordinate their training across our sites and Centres of Excellence.  You will help with the rollout of our new Learning Management System, uploading the courses and managing access to training materials that develop our people and our organisation. Using your amazing administration skills and systematic drive you will help us make the move from paper-based to digital records as efficiently as possible. As well as keeping all employee training records up-to-date, you will build and maintain a training calendar ensuring a streamlined and proficient approach to courses and the attendance of them.

The person

Organisation is key. Of course, you’re next-level proficient on all MS Office software but, more than that, you’re someone with real vision of how training should be organised at a company like ours. All the better if you’re experienced with an LMS.  You take the initiative, think on your feet and multitask even when the pressure is on. Queries are dealt with first time of asking. Reports are accurate and on time. And you’re always thinking of new, value-adding ways to interpret the data you’ll handle on a daily basis.

Your ability to build professional relationships both externally and internally across the business will help pave the way for your own career development.  This is an amazing opportunity to be a key player in our Learning and Development team and putting your own personal stamp on it will make all the difference.
