CEMETERY & CREMATORIA DEVELOPMENT.

Crematorium Assistant

Forest Park, Ilford

Salary: £22,000 - £25,000

40 Hours per week

Are you looking for a new challenge? Have you always wanted to use your skills and knowledge to make a difference? If the answer is yes then we have the perfect role for you.

We are currently looking for a passionate, empathetic, engaging, dedicated crematorium assistant to join our team. The role is situated at our Forest Park site and is the perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference to people and wants the opportunity to learn and develop in their career.

About Us

Westerleigh Group is the leading developer and operator of crematoria and cemeteries in the UK caring for over 40,000 funerals a year and we have a unique and interesting opportunity at one of our facilities.

We have proven expertise and have established a reputation for creating beautifully landscaped, high quality and peaceful facilities with service to the bereaved at their heart.

Working together as one team, we deliver the highest possible standards of care whilst always putting the safety of our employees and customers first. Our proven expertise and years of experience have established our strong reputation in this highly specialized field. Joining us as a Crematorium Assistant here at Westerleigh is an opportunity to be a part of something truly meaningful and significant.

The Role

Being part of our Forest Park team means getting involved at every stage of the cremation process so the challenge is varied and no two day are the same. This is a role for an individual who can develop an understanding of the cremation process and can pull together with a team to make sure we always deliver for our service users. One minute you might be trimming shrubs or mowing the grass. The next you might be carrying out a cremation (full training is given). In this role you will be responsible for the following:

· The end to end cremation process

· Ashes management

· Grounds Maintenance

· Office administration

· Health and Safety compliance

· Chapel and service assistance

Wherever the day takes you, your attention to detail will make sure we get it right – which is so important to what we do. If you can do that, you’ll be part of a team with the kind of collective ‘family’ spirit you won’t find everywhere. And you’ll be on to a great career with the biggest independent UK company in the business.

The Person

You’re the type of person who will turn their hand to anything and love learn new things. Someone flexible, who likes to take the initiative. You might not know everything there is to know about grounds keeping or how a funeral service runs – but fast-forward a bit and you’ll be a model of best practice in both. Likewise with cremation– you’ll learn fast because you want to make sure it’s done right.

As long as you have basic computer skills, Maths and English GCSEs, a driving licence and you understand the importance of prioritisation, compliance, and some experience using machinery and physical tasks, we can show you the rest. All that’s needed is your drive to be an indispensable member of your team. And that’s why you’ll love it here.

Because, when you share your skills and pull together with your colleagues, you’ll see first-hand how much people appreciate it. It’s something you take great pride in – and so you should – it’ll put you on the path to a great career at Westerleigh.
