West Suffolk Crematorium gains permission for 2nd chapel and hospitality suite.

St Edmundsbury Borough Council today passed plans for a second chapel, café and hospitality suite at the long established crematorium at Bury St Edmunds.

The proposals had been supported by local funeral directors who agreed that the new facilities would improve the service to the bereaved offering additional funeral times as well as a place to gather before and after the service. A handful of other crematoria in the UK provide a similar hospitality service where families are able to hold their wake in comfort, following the cremation service.

The proposals at West Suffolk promise to offer a new standard, cementing West Suffolk’s reputation as the pre-eminent service in the county.

Construction work is due to start early in 2017 with the new facilities expected to be open by the end of that year.
