Blackwood, Caerphilly – The four-hectare Westerleigh site will be the first crematorium and memorial garden to be built in Caerphilly county borough serving more than 150,000 people in their local community. Residents will, for the first time, have a crematorium within a 30-minute journey and the crematorium will offer service times at 1 hourly intervals, ensuring that bereaved families will be guaranteed the time and space to remember their loved ones in a private and peaceful setting.
Amlosgfa Dyffryn Sirhhywi / Sirhowy Valley Crematorium will provide a brand new purpose built facility, offering residents an alternative choice in a convenient location. The new crematorium will offer an area for the placing of floral tributes, along with beautifully maintained memorial gardens, a state-of-the-art media centre, providing live webcasts, the option of visual tributes and an almost unlimited music library.
Kevin Davies, Regional Manager of Westerleigh commented:
"We are delighted to be developing this new crematorium in Caerphilly as we believe that it will provide local families with a wider choice of funeral services. Currently, the nearest crematoria are all more than 10 miles away, and journeys take over 30 minutes in a funeral cortege. We are pleased to be able to offer a facility that will significantly reduce this time, improving the experience for the bereaved and ensuring that their time can be focused on the funeral service itself. Furthermore, the crematorium will offer standard service times at 1 hourly intervals, ensuring families are not rushed. Local funeral directors say they are looking forward to the development of a state-of-the-art facility to serve the Sirhowy Valley.”
