West Berkshire Crematorium provides cash boost to hospital charity
The Royal Berks Charity has received a £3,000 donation from West Berkshire Crematorium towards its work in caring for local families during their most difficult times.
The organisation is the primary charity for both the Royal Berkshire Hospital and the West Berkshire Community Hospital.
The donation came from West Berkshire Crematorium’s metal recycling scheme.
With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled and any money raised is used to support charities and other worthy causes in the communities surrounding every crematorium and cemetery which are part of Westerleigh Group.
Westerleigh Group is the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Stephanie Langford, Site Manager at West Berkshire Crematorium, said: “At West Berkshire Crematorium, we really want to help make a positive difference to our local communities.
“That’s why we decided to donate £3,000 to the Royal Berks Charity’s paediatric appeal.
“The paediatric team at Royal Berkshire Hospital works tirelessly to ensure younger patients and their families feel reassured and at ease during their hospital stay.
“The team is always looking at how they can further improve the care and experience for patients, and recently committed to raise money to buy 44 recliner chairs, to ensure parents can stay by their child’s side throughout their admission.
“The ward cares for patients who range in age from new-born to 16-years-old and the new recliners will ensure parents and carers are as comfortable as possible during what can be a very distressing and difficult time.
“We’re proud and privileged to be able to support such a worthy local cause.”
